Welcome to Greencoat Nursery - Sparkhill

A very warm welcome to Greencoat Nursery located at 259 Stratford Road. We are proud of our new setting which first opened in January 2018, where our caring and enthusiastic staff make learning fun and exciting for our wonderful children.


We know it's a big step to leave your little one with someone new, so we do all we can to make nursery feel safe and happy from the very first day. From babies of 9 months in our baby room to children getting ready for school, our Sparkhill nursery offers full-time and part-time care and education. Eligible working families can use 30 funded hours from 9 months. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, term time only.


You'll find us in the heart of the community at Greencoat House, 259 Stratford Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham B11 1QS, next to Aldi. Families come to us from across Sparkhill and Sparkbrook, and our minibus pick-up and drop-off means we also welcome children from as far as Hall Green and Acocks Green. Our air-conditioned building keeps everyone comfortable all year round and is a safe, secure place for our superstars to thrive and have fun. Under-2s are welcome at our free Stay & Play every Friday, 2pm to 3pm, a friendly way to meet our team.


At our latest Ofsted inspection, in April 2026, inspectors noted that children "enjoy their learning and are motivated to take part in activities" and "enjoy their time at the setting, feel a sense of belonging".     Lovely nursery. Staff are qualified and caring. Very helpful with bathroom time and development. My daughter has so much fun which is most important. Very clear and accurate communication. My son came from an Outstanding nursery to Greencoat. I wasn't sure it could offer the same breadth of development as his previous nursery, but I was wrong. 

I am extremely pleased with the attention and care to his development. The staff work closely with parents directly as well as through an app. The progress shared via the app informs parents of any key activities the children did, linking these activities to key development milestones. Parents can also record any activities/developments and share them with the nursery.

The close contact with parents and the varied activities with the children, make this one nursery which I would recommend wholeheartedly.

Our Outdoor Play Area

We have a new fully refurbished garden here at Greencoat Nursery. The garden is a safe place for children to play and learn with gates all around. Children are provided with a range of toys such as cars, scooters, bikes etc.


We also have our very own mud kitchen where children are able to use their imagination skills. Practitioners provide children with a range of natural resources such as pots and pans. There is an area where children can play with sand or water. Children are provided with fresh water and sand on a daily basis as well as different types of equipment.


Activities are planned around the set theme inside the play room as well as in the garden. This includes construction toys such as mega blocks. There is also a table and chairs for children who choose to have quiet time where they are able to read a story or draw a picture.


As a setting here at Greencoat Nursery we are always improving and implementing new ideas within our outdoor play area. Children are given opportunities to learn and play both indoors and outdoors.
